Now that Biden has stepped aside, people are no longer talking about tenure and age in our government. This is a mistake!
We have the oldest government, legislature, and courts in the developed world. Tenure keeps increasing, with many serving decades in Congress. With tenure and age, Congress has the lowest approval rating 16% in history.
The Supreme Court could be worse. Only two countries, the U.S. and Aruba have no term or age limits for their Supreme Court. This means we are probably looking at a court where Justices serve 35 years, and an 85-year-old will be considered a youngster.
Our government needs to have more competitive elections and get younger. There are two good alternatives: Term Limits and Age Limits. If either or a combination of both can be implemented, we can have more competitive elections, less control by big money, less gerrymandering, and a younger government.
