Ranked Choice Voting

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is an enhanced system of voting that allows voters to rank the candidates for office in order of their most desired to their least desired- #1, #2, #3, etc. The system uses these rankings to select the candidates with the broadest appeal. 

RCV, which is quickly gaining in acceptance, has many advantages. It eliminates spoilers, promotes cooperation between candidates, reduces negative campaigning, discourages polarizing candidates, eliminates costly run-offs, and leads to extremely high voter turnout. Numerous U.S. cities and the state of Maine currently use RCV. N.Y. city voters approved RCV for the coming election. Massachusetts and Alaska will vote on adopting RCV in 2020.
